Doll Works

Over the last 5 years Bryan has been photographing and collecting National Costume Dolls, this started with her own childhood collection of this type of doll. The works that she has created using these dolls are rich in colour and in form they visually reference landscapes and mapping. These sculptures interogate the obsession of collecting and the desire to possess memory through the souvenir. By using this material issues of population movement, population growth and racial stereotyping are addressed. All this is seen in miniature representations of our own likeness.
